A unique photo exhibition by local photographer, Leong Ka Tai captures a glimpse of the true heart of Hong Kong -- it's ordinary people.

In a series of 40 portraits under the theme of  "City Heroes", these individuals personify the Hong Kong story.  They come from all walks of life, cultures and professions reflecting the multi-cultural make up and the varied social strata of our society.  While just getting on with their lives, these heroes bring extraordinary contribution to the welfare and advancement of our society.   They keep alive the spirit, energy and humanity of our community, which in these challenging times are so easily forgotten.

The purpose of this exhibition is to inspire and impart to all those who visit the show the spirit of determination, the will to succeed and the depth of generosity we are all capable of showing.  It emphasises that the real heroes of Hong Kong are not the rich and famous, but rather, the everyman of society.

The individual heroes depicted in the exhibition were researched and chosen by the photographer.  They are grouped into three categories -- those with outstanding achievements, those who have overcome adversity at great personal effort and those that give back to the community regardless of personal circumstances.

The photographs are in black and white to emphasise simplicity and the profound reality of life. Each photo was processed and printed by hand by the photographer to ensure that the intimate character and personality of the individual hero is captured in the final product.

Leong Ka Tai is an award winning professional photographer.  He has published numerous books in Asia and Europe and has exhibited his work in Denmark, the US, and Singapore.

The City Heroes exhibition will be held during April, moving to a new venue each week throughout the Territory.
